January 2000: Ok, here's my dilemma: I
don't IRC a lot nowadays, and haven't seen most of the people on this list in
AGES - do I take them off, do I delete this whole page, do I leave it as it is? Suggestions
welcome. In the meanwhile I'm making feeble attempts at updating some of the
entries.
If I'm online right now, you can click
on the icon: and give me your suggestions immediately! If
not leave a message.
There's no way I can list ALL my irc-friends here so please
don't be offended if you don't find your name in the list - it doesn't mean I don't love
you <G>. On the other hand, if you DO find your name here, that doesn't mean I DO
love you :P.
I'll try to make this in alphabetical order. You can either
read the whole list or just jump to the nick you're interested in by letter (see the index
in the frame up there? :) )
Due to a major attack of laziness, lots of links to ppl's pages appear at the end WITHOUT
the customary short commentary - find them at 'more ppl'.
A
_alex- -
my personal chocolate supplier, from... well i can't say where he's from, it's his hobby
to see if people know where .nl is :)
amraam^ - a person it is a pleasure to contradict. In fact, it's a
must. Seems to know where and how to purchase used chemical plants. I heartily recommend
his homepage, written by his personal biographer.
Since starting law school (Yale) last fall,
amraam seems to have disappeared but it's my private belief that he's just faking it to
get away from the fans <G>.
Has re-surfaced.
anarchy69 - a cool
teenager (gee I hate it that I need to talk to people like anarchy to remember that
teenagers are 'people' too... not a whole lot different from 'adults' and lotsa times much
nicer and funnier than us 'we-have-experience,-we've-
made-mistakes-and-have-the-scars- to-show-for-it,
how-cynical-we-are-about-life,-and-how.cool-it-makes-us' adults... I'm talking
like I'm minimally 40 years old, eh? And rambling on like a senile 80 year old (not to say
that EVERY 80 year old is senile...).) Well, back to the issue here - anarchy - always
takes care to follow every 'brb' on the channel with ''k' and shares the chore of greeting
anyone entering the channel. Has an excellent homepage, with an IRC-friends-list
that (together with papercup's list) puts this one to shame... Oh well, I was first...:P
narc is bent on convincing me that mIRC is
better than PIRCH - I have to admit he has an answer to *almost* every question I have
about it :) And hey, since mIRC copied PIRCH's switchbar, it IS kinda neat... :).
andrewd - the
umop apisdn Australian with an itch for traveling - is currently STUCK (or so it seems....
geez, get OUT of there already! :P) in Vancouver, Canada, pops in once in a while from a
cyber cafe. As corny as this may sound, especially to a cynic like andrew, I will always
have a warm spot in my heart for him. ooroo, andrew (:
Hey he's in Mexico now!
No! He's back in Australia... netless though :(.
And the saga continues - he's back at his old job, peeking in on irc once
in a while... yay!!! :)
And... guess where he
is again... (July 1998). That's right, Mexico. Having the time of his life, to judge by
his emails. Way to go, andrew :).
And... he's back in Australia (Jan 2000).
ara - lives
right across the street from me - in Israel, that is. Is the snobbish 'north tel-aviv
person' (tsfoni in hebrew) that I'm supposed to be <G>.
B
Blank - My favourite
troll. Haven't seen him in ages though.
bunny -
Dopey's long lost and fondly remembered ping-mate, now residing in Iowa, married to a guy
with a rare foot disease, selling water beds. Life is unfair at times.
burns - a fellow israeli. Doesn't like my shoes <G>.
C
chalen- I can't
believe it's taken me so long to actually write something about chaley. A definite MAAR,
used to, like me, spend most of his time at uni online, but since graduating and moving in
with Jodi (who coordinates weddings with vacation times and seasons) only appears every so
often. I miss him.
Oh and btw... where do you keep your homepage now, chalen???
July 2000: chalen now ICQ's. He says he's running for Congress. I wouldn't
put it past him.
Clue - Clue, from Maryland, seems to think i'm a bad cook. She's wrong.
Hasn't been around much lately... hope she's having fun.
*** hmm... turns out she wasn't having so much fun... was sick - but she's
back now :)) (not really :( ).
D
Dalmar -
a superb cuddler (!) from Canada, works about 20 hours a day yet still has time to play...
umm what is it you guys play (I always forget...)? ... with Chasers.
denise -
my buddy from Alaska, who has the courage to do the things she wants to... She has always
gone where her heart told her to, and seems very happy with her decisions :). After moving
to England, she met Jan (irc-Aquariuz) and moved to Norway to live with him. They got
married and had a daughter. After about 2 years the whole family moved back to the
US, this time to California, where they now live. Check out their homepage
here.
Jan died on August 11, 1998, from meningitis complications. denise is
raising their daughter Rebecca in California.
July 2000: denise (well, that's probably not her nick now... maybe lauren)
is getting married again and having another daughter. I really wish I knew
her in rl...
DT20 - my
li'l brother on IRC, makes good popcorn w/ butter of course :). Insisted on paying for my
breakfast and only gave in when he saw I was serious about leaving my share as a tip for
the waitress <G>.
F
Flexx - Will never forget what I wore (or rather, didn't wear) to
paper and nec's wedding :) He is yet another Canadian (see note about canadians under
hockeyman's nick), who brings his pals from work to irc :). Somehow managed to not meet me
when I was in Toronto... :P
G
Galxee -
one of the first irc people I met in rl - spent a lovely evening with her in an indian
restaurant in NYC, gossiping about everyone on #thecafe :) (yes, those were still my
#thecafe days). The next time I was in NY we (Trevor, chalen and I) met her for a quick
lunch - I'm expecting her to visit Israel to make up for the shortness of that second
meeting.
Gol - bugger everything, it's Gol :) {{{{{{ Gol }}}}}} - there, was that
so terrible?
**** Where *IS* Gol??? Should have been back
from Saudi Arabia by now, I think...
hrmph... he's back... just not visiting us on EFnet... well... WHO CARES
:P
gymmie - another aussie, from Melbourne. Has finally made her own
homepage but insists it isn't good. Was proposed to last Valentine's day... how corny can
you get, eh? <g>. gymmie's and my latest fad is ICQ - we talk on IRC but msg on ICQ... Somehow I'm not sure that's what the
guys at Mirabilis (israeli guys!!!) meant for ICQ, but hey, we like it. If gymmie lets me,
I'll put her ICQ number here... hehe.
July 2000: gymmie got married, has acquired a cat (and still has chelsea the
dog). Has not updated her homepage in 2 years. shame on her!
H
hockeyman - one of the sweetest
people on irc. I don't think I've ever seen him mad, even when his hard disk crashes, time
after time. He's Canadian too, I think I'm starting to see a pattern here... lotsa nice
guys in Canada :) hockey and I are about to start a PIRCH (that's just
the BEST irc client out there, in case you don't know!) fan club... <G>.
*sob* no more PIRCH for me :(. My notebook can't seem to handle it... I
actually have to use *shudder* mIRC...
I'm back on PIRCH again :)). But I have to admit that mIRC isn't that
bad... there, I said it, narc - happy? <G>.
And then again.. I use mIRC now :).
J
JerseyGrl/AJBlue/shershu
- my friend from New Jersey (where else? :) ) who helped me through a difficult time.
Shares my dislike of certain large hibernating carnivores. Is currently
internet-account-less... miss ya, Sher :(
jqrn - my Danish (or is that Dane?) friend Jørn (don't even try to
pronounce it :) ) is almost impossible to find on IRC. When I *do* get to talk to him, the
thing I enjoy most is not having to worry if my english is correct or not :). Now how far
exactly is Slovakia from Denmark???
K
Kelso -
the FIRST irc person I met in rl - miss you a lot, Kelso, hope you do well on your bar
exams (NY/NJ). <--- He should be a full fledged lawyer by now... Joe, if you see
this... PLEASE email me, I lost your email address. Thanks :).
Keroppi - the
Canadian frog who speaks hebrew almost as well as I do. meta alayich, Ker :)) Ker is in
camp right now and I miss her SOOOO much... :( I'm getting rather excited though, she's
gonna be back on August 18!!!
*** She's back!!! with a broken collarbone!!!
Collarbone is ok by now. I'm just writing this cause I'm too lazy to email
her :P
Oooooh! I met her!!! and her family!!! Trevor and I went over to her house
for Friday night dinner. You would NOT imagine how many frogs she has in her room!!! :))
July 2000: That little kid is now in uni... imagine that. And will be going
to San Diego next year/semester? to work (some kind of program they have at
school, I'm not sure although she tells me about it every time we talk).
Still misses camp.
Ok, she spent the semester quacking,
and is back in Toronto now... no wait, she's in Mexico.
krbr - actually not an irc friend anymore but a good rl
one. My ex-boyfriend of 3 years, we have friendly seperated (yes it IS
possible) and share custody of our pets :). See real life friends page too.
L
LittleOne - My IRC daughter (I wonder if her daddy even remembers...
hey doughnut, what's up? <G>). Can never remember basic ircII commands. Stays up WAY
after her bedtime <G>.
M
MaidM -
why didn't they have teachers like MM when *I* was in school??? Makes one stop to think
about stereotypes... MM and I both share the honor of being called terrorists by the
sanest person on IRC <G>.
me^ - the medic^ from New Zealand. Tends to run people over with his
chevy ambulance. Hugs a lot :)
Has dropped out of sight :(.
mee2 - now back in California, where she belongs, mee expects me to
report to her which of her numerous (4 at last count) guys was online and when. But of
course, she's rashzMEE2 :) And she's missing! Come back meeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
mee's back... yay :) I think this broken
collarbone thing is contagious (re Keroppi). mee is busy busy busy these days... hey, who
told you to get married anyways? <G>. Oh well, see ya in NY :).
Waaaah... I was in NY and SF and didn't meet mee... hey, you should read
your email once in a while, you know, mee :P
monyplays - well... I can't very well leave mony out, can I?
Wouldn't want him thinking I'm /ignoring him again, it might set him way back in his
therapy. Out....... scoreboard, dear.
Ohmygod, I still have this on my homepage. Does
mony even exist still? Not that I really want to know...
MoonHawk - the cute Pizza lover from israel <G>. Keeps
surprising me with new nicks. After seeing his pics, i'm kinda sorry he's too young for
me... ;) <--- after actually meeting him in RL, this becomes doubly right. Hmm... is
cradle robbing *really* so terrible? <G>.
I think MH's been gobbled up by the Israeli
army...
Mountain - my yiddish teacher from California. Doesn't seem to
realize it's a dead language <G>. A very good friend who knows too much about me for
his own good. Has a male cat named Sarah... I think that says a lot about him :) Be nice
to him and you just might get a llama as a gift :).
N
necrosy - that
sweet guy from Alberta, Canada, probably the only person on the channel that knows more
about cows than I do. I'm still waiting for the Jolt Cola he SAYS he sent me :). <-- turns out the poor guy keeps
sending them jolts and they keep being returned to him...
I think I'll follow narc's example and leave
necrosy on my page. Perhaps one day he'll return to being his sweet old self.
I guess he sort of has... And he and LadyTyger are living together, above
a tattoo parlour :).
July 2000: And getting married, too! LadyTyger is in pre-vet so I guess that
makes her a colleague :).
P
Paddo - Another upside down aussie. Seems to like sharing his 'successes'
(sp?) with the channel <G>.
disappeared for a while and returned with his
own computer and a girlfriend :)
Paddo who?
papercup -
If she didn't tell, you'd never guess how old paper was. A very good listener, yet quite
outspoken when provoked. Refuses to censor herself with *'s in 4 letter words <G>.
Keep the knives away from her - I mean it.
Ask her about the BTE concert - ask for the
LONG version :) Or just read her BTE page...
PaperPlat - the only
person I know who would rather take 3 objects with him to an abandoned island than a
person. hmm... all in all though, he's a very NICE guy... trying to change it though
<G>.
R
Rashidon - yet
ANOTHER Canadian, will not forget my horse-dog (actually i'm probably just reminding him
of it here, but he DID harp on it for ages... :) ). He and Tangerine have moved in
together... yay, another successful irc romance :)
Rgrey/Dv8tion (I don't remember if that's how he spells that) - from Seattle, actually has a *gasp* real life. Does
not approve of irc-weddings. He is a good listener with perceptive insights, qualities
which of course make him a great friend.
Trevor and I were supposed to meet Rgrey in Seattle this trip but due to
my forgetfulness, we lost his phone number - TWICE... grrr!! too bad...
S
Sauron - for some reason, Sauron has a calming effect on people (he
disagrees with me on this, btw). Rather weird, when you remember that most of the time
he's lurking, doing his homework. Seems to know absolutely everything - very useful to
have around when conversions (from anything to anything!) are required :).
Sauron hasn't been online much lately... school sux, eh?
Wait, make that - hasn't been on the CHANNEL lately... :P Anyways,
he uses the nick Beren nowadays.
T
Tangerine- This orange
(haired) (but not hairy!) girl (wommon?) has this *neat* air-mattress in her apartment, on
which Trevor (krbr) and I spent 3 delightfully airy nights. Her apartment, though
kitchenless (!), is nice and compact (ok, ok, SMALL... <g>) - nevertheless, she is
giving it up to go dwell with Rash. Who could blame her... he's a chef!!!
Well, they've moved in together, in another apartment in the same
building. Dare I ask... does THIS one have a kitchen? :)
July 2000: I haven't talked to her in quite a while, but she
has definitely seperated from Rash, and is living with another boyfriend.
TheDope/GoCrtMzrt - I'll never understand a word he says, but he's good at
other things <G>. Drinks Snapple. (I only mentioned this because i found the Snapple homepage on
the web). Mr. Dope hasn't been around lately... *suspicious glance in Ms. Dope's
direction...
*** /me apologizes profusely to Ms. Dope - turns out the dopish couple
were busy moving to the country and making little dopes. Mazel Tov!
W
WildZiff/|Karl| - a good friend from Edmonton, Canada, to where he
keeps trying to convince me to move by reminding me that the world's biggest mall is
there. I must admit, it IS tempting... :) Has the frustrating tendency to be online but
asleep when I log on.
Actually he's always awake nowadays... sheesh, get some sleep! :)
Z
Zygg - was quicker than me at understanding some basic facts about
#thecafe. Is rather nice even though he tries to hide it. Will probably never speak to me
again for writing about him.
more ppl
Now to the lazy part - links to
other peoples' homepages without having to think up something to say about them - out of
sheer laziness, nothing else (and I promise to try to write something about them in the
near future :) ):
Turns out some of the links don't work anymore... I'll try to get them
updated soon.
and to the even LAZIER part... just a
mention of some ircfriends who don't have a homepage but I'd still like to mention 'cause
they make IRC fun (but I can't be bothered to take the 5 minutes needed to write something
about them... hmm... :) ).
Some of these ppl have been missing for ages
- for all I know they could be dead. With others I just don't chat anymore - well, that's
IRC for you, but I still did have a nice time knowing them, therefore they are mentioned
here.
