me

So... let's see. I'm 35 years old, from IsraelIsrael's flag .

My name is Vered - it means Roseblooming rose in hebrew. Most non-israelis can't seem to pronounce my name for some reason, so don't even try :). If for some weird reason, pronouncing my name correctly is *really* important to you, click here to hear me saying it :).

I live in Tel Aviv,  with Erez, my boyfriend, my 3 cats and 2 dogs and his 6 dogs. Yes, that is a total of 8 dogs.   I live in my first ever house (up till now having only lived in apartments). It's great having a garden!
If you want to put a face (and body... mmmhmmm... :)) to the words, go see some pics.

school

I am, finally, after 6 years of study, a veterinary doctor. I did 2 years of biology at the Tel Aviv University, and then 4 years of veterinary medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Kosice, Slovakia Slovakia's flag. I graduated in June 1998 (a year after I was SUPPOSED to have graduated, since I spent most of the 5th and 6th (last) year of my studies on the net and so had to take a year off and come back, 'sans computer', to complete my exams :)
Here's a map to help you find Slovakia. (See, I assume you all know where *Israel* is... god knows we're mentioned enough on CNN... :) ).

work

After being employed for several years at a small animal clinic, I now have my own veterinary housecall practice.  If you're in the Tel Aviv area and are interested, please email me.
If you know hebrew, you might want to check out my 'Ask The Vet' site.

I also work part time as a consultant to the people who translate the Discovery channel and Animal Planet here in Israel, mainly helping with the hebrew names of animals and veterinary terms.

During my university years, I worked on and off at the Israeli Hewlett Packard office as a secretary - a part time job that amazingly enough, paid more than I earn nowadays... have I already mentioned that there are too many vets in israel? To think that I once said I'd NEVER be a secretary... Well, that was way back, in the army, and whoever has been a 'pkida' (hebrew for 'lowly secretary' :) ) in the israeli army probably understands why I said that :) .
YES... I spent 2 years in the army - as do most Israelis - guys (3  years) AND girls (2). can't say I liked it too much but as it seems to be a bit of a turn on for non-israeli guys perhaps it was worth it :) .

friends
I can't imagine not having friends. They're one of they most important things in my life. My belief is that you *have* to have friends, but can definitely live without having a boyfriend :).  I like being alone, but it's nice being alone and knowing that my friends are there if I need them. And they are. :).
