The most important thing in my life is my friends.  I cannot imagine life without them. I spend a lot of time with Osnat, my best friend of 23 years. We like taking the dogs out for a walk, shopping, swimming or just sitting around talking. We talk on the phone about 10 times a day and see each other almost every day. People joke that she is my 'wife'. Erez (my boyfriend) makes fun of how many times a day we talk on the phone.
I meet my other friends less frequently - sometimes not as frequent as I would like.

Then comes my computer, or more specifically the internet and my visor.
The internet: I can almost say I'm addicted to the net. However, since I once was truly addicted, I know that now it's more of an extreme hobby :). I have a DSL internet connection and my computer is turned on and online 24/7. I think it's amazing that not only can you find information about anything on the net, you can also find people willing to talk to you about this thing. Thus, I am on mailing lists that have to do with my being a woman, a palm user, a vet, a dog, cat, rat owner, the way I feed myself and my pets and combinations of the above :). Read more about this, here.

My PDA - my first PDA was a visor: My brother Boaz got me a Handspring Visor Deluxe (a palm type personal computer) in August (2000). Within months, I could not understand how I ever lived without it. More, here. Then last summer I got a Sony Clie NX80 which I love - finally colour! I got it as a non-wedding present from my Aunt Zipi. She decided it was unfair she had given each of my brothers a $1,000 wedding present and had not given me such a present even though  I had not gotten married  - so she gave me a thousand dollars. I bought the Clie and a Canon Elph S400 digital camera. I love my gadgets! And I love my aunt :).

Politics used to play a very big part in my life, perhaps only natural for someone coming from a country like Israel. My early university years were the years before 1993, before anyone even thought of talking to the Palestinians. I moved slowly from the mild to extreme left wing, being active first with Ratz and then at university with Meretz and then Campus, affiliated with Hadash. In the middle of all this activism, I left for peaceful Slovakia (no, there is NO war in Slovakia, it is NOT Slovenia). Coming back, 4 years later, to a country 'ruled' by Bibi, did not make me want to be involved again and I spent a few quiet years. Recently I have gone back to political activities but with a feeling of deep despair, something I did not have once.

the hobby thingie
What else do I do?

I've always been a bookworm (delightful word, that one) - in fact there is nowhere I can think of that I haven't read - kitchen, toilet, on the bus, while walking in the street (I try to stop when actually *crossing* the street), in class (*especially* in class), etc etc. I like most kinds of literature, perhaps with the exception of sci fi although 'The Handmaid's Tale' by Margaret Atwood is a really great book. I am currently reading The Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut. To find out more about which books I read, click here.
I like 'arts and crafts'. Not carpentry and such, but things with paper, scissors, glue, clay and paint. And I have a 'thing' for boxes. I cover them with pretty gift paper and then look around for something to put in them. Then I move to a bigger apartment to have enough space for all the boxes. Aren't you glad you know that about me?
I collect postcards - not from around the world, just cute funny ones. Here are a few of my favourites:
Women's Lib
woo hoo!
Callahan - #1 (seeing dog)
Callahan - #2 (cows getting along)
Yitzhak Rabin
family
Mom (Sara) and Dad (Shlomo) have been married for more than 40 years. Mom was born in Hungary, Dad in Iraq, and both came to Israel as babies. I guess in their marriage they took part in the Israeli melting pot. Dad's family, the Iraqui part, weren't too pleased with this Ashkenazi girl he was bringing into the family. And yet, they grew to love her. It's interesting to see how similar in many things Mom is to Aunt Aliza's, one of Dad's sisters. Except in the number of progeny - Aliza has 12 kids! :).
I recently found out that my family tree has been documented on the web. It can be found here. The nice thing about this tree is that anyone can update it. So if you belong to the Mourad/Cadouri/Mukamal and other families, feel free to go check your data there. They spell my last name Murad there.
I have 2 older brothers, which makes me both the youngest and the  only girl in the family. Yes, I'm a spoiled brat . One brother (Boaz) lives in NYC and I will forever be jealous of him for that. The other (Amnon) is in Israel. Both are married,   Amnon even daring to choose a wife whose name is the same as mine... the nerve! .
Amnon and Vered got  married on April 7th, 1998. They have two girls - Zoe born May 19th, 1999, and Shelly, born November 4, 2001. They also have a site.
Boaz and Stacey got married on August 28, 1999, at Lake Placid, NY, and shlepped us all there (7 hours driving, and that with my mom going 90 MPH most of the way!) but it was well worth it. I still dream of that place :). They had a baby girl, Eden, on December 14, 2000.
Their site is totally not ready yet and probably never will be, but here's a link to Eden's picture albums.
