2002: Thanks to our wonderful PM, our army has re-invaded most of the
occupied territories. The Palestinian Authority (PA) infrastructure has been
destroyed by Sharon's soldiers, and now he expects them to deal with the
hunger and desperation that our act causes. He insists that he will not
return to the negotiation table till the PA is rid of corruption, as if the
Israeli governments have not had their share of scandals. I find it incomprehensible that while Sharon has failed to bring peace, has failed to bring economical stability, has failed to bring security - he still has the people's support. If elections were held today, Sharon would win again. We are indeed a stupid nation. Perhaps we deserve what we get. April 2002: Sharon, our Prime Minister, has invaded Ramallah and Jenin. He pretends to want peace, but has ignored the Saudi offer of *total* peace with the *whole* arab world, in exchange for evacuating all the (illegal!) settlements. The Israeli army's presence in Ramallah is illegal. Serving in this army is illegal. I applaud the soldiers / reserve soldiers who refuse to take part in these war crimes. Israel is slowly becoming a fascist police-state. At a recent jewish-arab peace-march intended to bring food and medicine to Ramallah, the police/soldiers used tear gas and clubs to disperse the peaceful marchers, breaking bones and causing concussions. A few days later they used their clubs again to disperse a demonstration opposite the US embassy in Tel Aviv, because they did not like the fact that the demonstrators held the Palestinian flag. Israel is (supposedly) a democratic country and it is (supposed to be) legal to wave any flag you like. Apparently not. The army in Ramallah and Jenin is reported to be plundering the palestinians' homes. They have cut off their electricity and water supply. They are not allowing them to treat their wounded or bury their dead. These are all war crimes, and I am ashamed to be Israeli. Will all the collaborators now later on say 'we didn't know' ??? |

| October 2000: Israel is considering war. Barak is talking about bringing Sharon (proven murderer) into an 'emergency government' which will most definitely kill any chance of a peace accord. Most Israelis are concentrating on the killings of Israelis while conveniently forgetting that more than 90 Palestinians have been killed in the past 2 weeks. Even (so called) left wingers are saying that we do not have a 'partner' to make peace with. I say we stop comparing the opressed with the opressor and just MAKE PEACE ALREADY. | |||||

Older
stuff: I like protesting. About most anything <G>... Seriously though - I'm *very* left-wing in my political opinions - very nearly a commie, in fact. I'm very much for returning the territories we have been occupying for so long, and may East-Jerusalem be the capital of Palestine, 'bimhera beyameynu' (sorry, this only works in hebrew). Unfortunately, since Bibi (Benjamin Netanyahu) (read below) became prime minister, the situation in Israel is miserable - from the verge of a comprehensive Middle East peace, we've gone to the brink of war. I have left most of my political activities described below, and feel bad about that - but it just seems that there's nothing to do. (Which of course, is wrong - THIS is the time to do something!... ) |

one thing I *can* do at least is to put a link here to Gush Shalom, an extreme left apolitical (?)
organization I once 'belonged' to (well, I went to their demonstrations and put their
stickers on my car). and... some more links: A site commemorating Rabin and expressing disgust at Bibi's existence - with a neat java thingy to kvetch Bibi's face BibiWatch - an independent weekly newsletter, whose goal is to keep an eye on Bibi. Unfortunately, no longer updated, but you can read the archives. Ariga/peace - so many links... including one to Rabin's last speech.

You can
find me every friday between 1pm-2pm at the 'Tnuva junction' in Tel Aviv
(obviously, only when I'm in Israel) protesting with other 'Women in Black' against the
occupation. This brings me to another political interest of mine - feminism. More about
that further on. (that is, when i get around to it... (when? when??))
