My Real Life Friends

Well... here they are, the people I owe my sanity to (I HEARD that!):

Osnat - my BEST friend from way back when we were both 12 years old - wow, that makes it 24 years together. We both studied in Slovakia, and she too is a vet. She and I have been through a lot, and survived - even living together for a while... <g>. I couldn't imagine life without her, so hopefully she'll still be there when I'm 90 and want to call her to kvetch about the bad food they give at the home.
Osnat has what has to be the cutest dog on earth - his name is Gal, he's a Briard, weighs about 50 kgs (that's 110 lbs). The static pics don't do him justice - watching him play around is the funniest thing on earth and lucky for him, he is just *too* cute to get mad with. Gal was recently diagnosed with diabetes and Osnat gives him insulin shots every day.

Erez - my boyfriend. I met him on the net, on a sex message board site. We kept our anonymity for a long while till I sent him an email through my real email account (with my real name) by mistake and then we found out we actually had a lot of common friends. Talk about it being a small world.
Erez has 6 dogs, 2 of which are incompatible with cats. When we moved in together, these two dogs stayed with friends and then at a kennel, but after a few months we brought them home - they are closed in one bedroom and the cats are not allowed into that room.
Erez is allergic to cats and at first could not stay at my place. Over the time he must have become desensitized to them. At first he needed mega doses of antihistamines, now he only takes one every month or so. He is still allergic to OTHER cats.

Ok... after Osnat and Erez I can go on alphabetically:

Dganit - a friend from the army, whose life seems always to be going as planned. Married with 2 children (Ela'ad and Yarden), she's one of those moms that DON'T think they have to talk about their children all the time and shlepp them around everywhere, even to friends - we need more of those!

Dorit - met her in Slovakia, where we studied together for one year. Dorit is a reminder to me of how people can be so different from each other - she is SO unique yet doesn't realize it. Her way of thinking is so organized, so correct - that sounds dull and boring but it isn't, she's great and I'm happy knowing she's my friend. Dorit is also a vet, and currently finishing a PhD in eye medicine and starting her post-doctorate in the US. She is married Gali this year and they have a cute child.

Amazingly enough at one time Dorit bought a car from Dganit's parents - without ever having met or even known that I was friends with both of them.

Ella - my namesake (or am I *her* namesake?) - the REAL Ella - the sweetest person on earth :) Sharing a room with her in the army was one of the rare *nice* things there. Ella looks a bit like Ally McBeal (sp?) and like her, spent a long while searching her lifelong partner. But when she found him, she knew it was him. She and Halil got married last year, and had a baby boy. Sadly, they are planning on moving closer to Halil's parents which means farther away from me. I will miss her.

Galia - I met her too at the 'feminist conscious raising group' mentioned above. Galia was just ordained as a Rabbi. Not orthodox of course, but reform. My friend the rabbi :). She is a terribly busy person, it's almost impossible to meet her. I suspect she's going places. Is having a baby soon.

Lily - we've been friends ever since our parents forced me to take her to school on her first day in a new neighbourhood <g>. Considering the fact that Lily now lives in San Francisco, I guess it's a good thing she's is the kind of friend I can not see or talk to for a year at a time, and then pick up right where we left. She most considerately continues emailing me, accepting the fact that she gets about 1 reply per every 5-6 she sends :).
Lily and Gideon have a gorgeous baby girl, Daria.

Sivan - another Kosice-originating friend, hopefully one for life :). I've always admired her for her independence and for KNOWING that anything a guy can do, she can do (and better :)). She doesn't describe herself as a feminist though, but what's in a definition anyway, eh?
Sivan has 3 children - Aviv , Gal and Raz and in my books is a supermom.

Trevor - my ex- boyfriend. We met through the net, on IRC,(is known as krbr on IRC) and he came all the way from Canada, first to Slovakia, and then to Israel to be with me. We lived together for 3 years, till I decided I wanted to live alone. We are still good friends, and I hope we always will be. I like him a lot. So does Fenka, our dog.
